Open opportunities

There are no funded opportunities to join the SCALE lab at this time.

Unsolicited inquiries

Prospective graduate students and postdoctoral researchers are always encouraged to inquire about possibilities to join the SCALE lab. We welcome inquiries from potential researchers with backgrounds in agriculture, data science, environmental science, ecology, geography, sustainability, and other related areas. Please send an email to Dr. McClelland with your CV and a brief statement that includes: 1) what you find compelling about the SCALE lab’s work, 2) your main research interests, and 3) your prior experience (2 paragraphs maximum).

Prospective postbaccalaureate and undergraduate students that want to inquire about research associate positions should email Dr. McClelland with their major, academic year, and relevant experience, including computer programming and data analysis capabilities (1 paragraph maximum). Please also provide a resume or CV.

For Stony Brook University students, we are able to offer research for credit through SUS 487 Research in Sustainability. We occasionally provide internship opportunities.

Fellowships and funding

There are numerous ways to fund your graduate and postdoctoral research with the SCALE lab. When there are no funded opportunities available, fellowships provide you the flexibility to join us to pursue your specific interests within our broader areas of research. Many provide several years of funding for research and tuition. Prospective applicants for our funded opportunities are also encouraged to consider and to apply for these fellowships.
